Now you can see why this particular day trip flyout for sockeye salmon and bear viewing is so popular with our guests. These are completely WILD brown bears....the only difference is they have learned to tolerate the human fisherman intrusion providing you mind your manners. Caution is always advised and the bears ALWAYS have the right-of-way as they move around the shoreline and in the water.
Anglers must be quick with their catch. Sockeye frequently jump many times during their fight and this action frequently invites the bears to try and capture the fish on the end of your line. Of course this is a no-no since the bear could get hooked by the fly and become quite irritated from the pain. The creek is in the background and is a mere trickle through the rocks that these salmon must navigate.....if they survive the anglers and bears!!
Testimonial - (not pictured angler) "Having been an avid sport fisherman for many years, I have had the pleasure of fishing in Alaska first with Mike Tuhy as a guide and more recently with Mark and Mike at the Tower Rock Lodge. At all times I was impressed with not only their abilities but also with their concern for the environment. It was always stressed that all of the rules and regulations were to be followed. The equipment was always well maintained and in good working condition. My recent stays at the Tower Rock Lodge were always a first class experience."
