The second kind of river boat we use here on the Kenai Peninsula are drift boats. They are ideally suited for two types of conditions we encounter on the Kenai and Kasilof Rivers. The upper Kenai River where we fish for rainbow trout, Dolly Varden and sockeye salmon is regulated as a non-motorized section of the river so drift boats are the perfect conveyance for moving down through the miles of prime world class trout fishing.
The Kasilof River is another stream we use our drift boats on. It is a relatively shallow and rocky river that is only navigable with drift boats. King salmon and silvers are our target on this stream and the peaceful nature of a drift trip down this largely undeveloped drainage makes for a memorable experience. Drift boats are equipped with individual rod holders, comfortable seating, and dry storage for your gear, food and drinks. They are very safe and stable and many of our guests rate this as their favorite method of fishing.
